What

Accoring to WHOIS, I’ve owned this domain for just over 12 years. Over the years it’s hosted a number of things (contrary to popular belief, the internet is more than www).

  • Subversion
  • Samba
  • Git (ranging from bare SSH access to gitolite and back)
  • Email (used to be postfix+dovecot+webmail now postfix is just a relay to semi-private gmail address)
  • A webserver (started with Apache, used Lighttpd for a short while, now using nginx)
  • OpenVPN
  • DNS

The SVN and samba services are no longer used, but the rest have been more or less in place for nearly a decade. I used to have a web presence here, but I took it offline around 2012 because I wasn’t using it very much.

Comeback

So for the last couple years I’ve been reading a bunch of technical blogs and I felt the urge to start my own writing. Now that I’m bringing it back, there has to be a reason. I really like Chris Siebenmann’s style of posting frequently about very narrow topics that come up on demand. I’m going to try to emulate that.

In addition, I need to start writing about the projects I’m working on or have worked on recently. I’ve been working on some LED lighting for a cosplay outfit for my SO, so I should post some of that. I’ve taken thousands of pictures with my Canon T6 that I shouldn’t let rot on my hard drive either.

I’m also going to collect links to other interesting sites here. So if you end up here somehow, you should go check them out.
